Heathenism
in Georgia...
This is a
touchy subject since it is local and very much a personal opinion.
Not everyone in Georgia will agree with any or all of what I write here.
There are quite a few Heathens/Astruar in Georgia. They run the gambit from
extreme left to extreme right, racist to so anti-racist that they are every
bit as bad as the racist. We have everything from self styled traditionalist
to Icelandic traditionalist to just plain old Heathens. There are members of
groups like the Asatru Alliance, A.F.A, Anglo-Saxon Ealdriht, Gering Theod, and others all can be found here in Georgia.
In my
travels through the Heathen community here in Georgia, I have only met 1
person (online or in person) that I would advise for others to avoid.
That being a person who was the head of the now defunct Forn Sed USA and the North Georgia Kindred. While I do not have any problem with most of the former members of F.S. USA or members of the North Georgia Kindred, if this person is involved with any group, I would warn any local Georgian away from those groups. The reasons are personal, but I will say do your homework and you can learn a lot about a person by their reputation in the heathen community as a whole. When a person is despised by Heathens from the folkish to the universalist and every point in-between there is a reason for it.
Words
from a wise person, I wish I had heeded these words when I first found
Asatru/Heathenism.
"Word of warning: Don't rush into kindred or tribe
building until you know each other like best friends. Too many people have
damaged reputations over hasty mistakes."
Some of
the groups I would recommend for networking and meeting other Heathens/Asatruar
in Georgia are
Southern Folk Council, Southeastern
Asatru, Atlanta
